iTunes sync up new features ipad iOs 5.0.1 January 2012
If you have not downloaded the current version of itunes yet there have been some changes that you may like. The ipad will have new features such as locate my device, iMessage and iCloud capabilities.
I had not sync’ed my ipad in a couple of months so January 1st I decided to download the new advanced 5.0.1 iOs. The new iOs or Apples operating system which was previously developed for the Apple iPhone is now shared with the ipad and ipod. 5.0.1 iOs was released back in last quarter 2011.
I was syncing my itunes by usb cord to my main itunes account with my PC in the office when a notice of the new iOs 5.0.1 popped up on my iPad screen so accepted. It asked if I would like to use iCloud or my computer to back up stuff and I choose iCloud. The it asks if you like to use “find my ipad” and I answered yes. The next section in the new iOs is diagnostics to automatically send or not send issues back to Apple and I chose “not send”. Then it started the download of the new operating system.
iCloud is a built-in app where you backup all your stuff. If you turn your iPad on and go into settings you will see the iCloud tab. The iCloud app can save 9 different things such as your contacts, calendars, bookmarks and also contains the Find My iPad feature.
The Find My iPad app is a really useful app to help you locate your iPad on a map if you’ve lost it or it is missing or stolen. The app can instruct your device to make a beeping sound or
write something on your screen such as return my ipad or there will be criminal charges pressed. You can also set controls in the app to lock or to erase all the data remotely without knowing where the device is. This is especially handy if your iPad is stolen.
iMessage is also another built-in app that comes with iOs 5 and it allows you to text message free over Wi-Fi any other device that is also operating iOs 5. iMessage will allow you to send text, photos or videos. You can send and receive unlimited text messages between to iPad, iPod touch and iPhone users thru Wi-Fi or 3G.
